Routine Gen is a free, client-side academic timetable generator designed for colleges, universities, and schools. It automatically schedules lectures and practical labs while preventing teacher overlaps across different departments and semesters.

How does Routine Gen detect and prevent teacher clashes?

Routine Gen computes timetable overlaps based on actual elapsed clock minutes rather than rigid period slots. If a teacher is assigned in Department A from 10:00 to 11:30, the algorithm prevents conflicting assignments in Department B during overlapping minutes.

Is timetable or faculty data stored on any server?

No. Routine Gen executes entirely inside the user's web browser using JavaScript. No institutional data, faculty rosters, or timetable records are transmitted to or stored on remote servers.

Can Routine Gen import schedules directly from Microsoft Excel?

Yes. Routine Gen supports a standardized 3-sheet Excel workbook (.xlsx/.xls) to bulk import Departments & Timings (Sheet 1), Subjects & Labs (Sheet 2), and Teachers Directory (Sheet 3).
